Staying on Track

I've been staying on track and maybe even picked up the pace a little in my working out and weight loss efforts. I have a trip to Oklahoma coming up and I will be seeing several people that I haven't seen in a year. I will be at least 50 pounds lighter than last time I was there and hopefully even 60. I still have about a month so we'll see.

Sometimes things aren't as you wish them to be. When you are unhappy or not satisfied with something you have to initiate a change. The first step to change is often the toughest as you are changing a routine, a habit, or an environment that you are comfortable or familiar with.
I've made some radical changes this year and I'm planning on making more.
Time doesn't wait and if you want something you have to make a decision and go for it.
I decided a few months back that I was tired of being overweight and I made the decision to do something about it. I've lost some and I have the momentum now so it's so much easier on a daily basis to continue. The first few weeks and months even were tough to avoid slipping in to old habits that were not healthy choices but I was determined not to lose sight of my goals and dreams.

Favorite Snack

I'm heading over to Trader Joe's to pick up some of my favorite snack.
I'm off work for a couple of days and I'm going to try to spend some time putting a little more structure in to my work out schedule. I have been freestyling it too much and it's just too easy to skip a day that way.

2008 Goals

1. Spend more time with my wife and family
2. Lose 50 pounds (averaging 5 per month minimum)
3. Log in at least 15 miles per week walking, jogging, running

That's it. I'm keeping it simple and focusing on these three goals.
I'll track my exercise, meal plan, and weight loss and update here from time to time.

Christmas: The Day After

It's the day after Christmas. I went to my Grandmother's yesterday and had a great time. It's been a nice week and I've been trying not to eat too much. Overall, I've managed to stay away from the table and not overdo it.
I'm excited about 2008 and I have set some really nice goals for myself.
I'm targeting to lose 5 pounds a month this year incorporating a lot of walking, jogging, and running. I'm going to log in my miles on this blog.

Weekend Getaway

Mrs. Surf and I had a great weekend together. We went to Biloxi for a couple of days then over to Destin before returning to Atlanta for my company Christmas party.
We topped that off Monday night with front row seats at Monday Night Football.
